spiritual works of mercy
   This term (from the Latin spiritus, meaning "spirit" or "breath") refers to those spiritual works of mercy that complement the corporal works of mercy; these spiritual works, which are actions intended to aid the spiritual well-being of our neighbors, include counseling the doubtful, instructing the ignorant, admonishing the sinner, comforting the sorrowful, forgiving injuries, bearing wrong with patience, and praying for the living and the dead.
